Calum Hood ~ Long Way Home
"I don’t wanna go home just yet," you had ’ hand in yours as he started the car and reversed from the parking space. It was a pretty average and cliche date that you just finished, but it didn’t matter because Calum was actually there. Your dates had changed from average to online. 5 Seconds Of Summer were taking off, tours and promos, they were only home for around 4 weeks a year and that changed everything between you both.
So you didn’t care that this date wasn’t anything special, because it wasn’t online, Calum was actually with you and you could touch him. Calum nodded in return, “we’ll take the long way home.” He turned to look at you and smiled before taking the car out of reverse and driving away from the bowling alley. The bowling alley wasn’t far from where you lived. But whatever he meant it was fine with you.
He drove around, taking random turns here and there, you’d get lost if you didn’t grow up around here. Calum knew where he was going, so did you, but that didn’t stop him from turning here and there. Most of the time going in the opposite direction of your house.
The radio buzzed with the CD that was in. You could faintly hear it play,
'Another turning point a fork stuck in the road, time grabs you by the wrist, directs you were to go.'
You rolled up to a stop sign, Calum, doing what every driver should, stops. He bent over the middle of the car and plastered his lips over yours. You kissed back, the music not stopping playing.
'So make the best of this test and don't ask why.'
Calum’s hand cupped your cheek as he slowly pulled away.
'It's not a question but a lesson learnt in time.'
"I miss you," his breathe drying your lips.
"I miss you too"
"It’ll be worth it, trust me"
'It's something unpredictable, but in the end its right'
Calum turned back to face the road and you rested your head on his shoulder.
'I hope you had the time of your life.'
